Limiting the number of Emails for new Post Test #1Views: 244

This is just a test.

We are implementing a limiting option for friend postings so only email will be sent in a certain period of time rather than multiple emails for every post.

This is the first test, an email should go out for this post. After that on the next test, provided everything goes to plan, an email will not be sent out.

Thank you for taking the time to experiment on this problem. The only one that I have a problem with is in the photo postings. If someone wants to send say 5 photos in the same day they all come as separate posts. Not so good. The other problem was that with certain peopele that I support I get 2 emails back when they post so I’m not sure if that happens to them too with mine. Guess this is just a trial and error kind of examination. I am presuming you do this as a kindness of your heart so thanks so much for trying to fix this problem. Weezie

A Test and an explination of the issues...Views: 305

Hi all,

My name is Kevin, I do a lot of programming and web work on this site for Jill. As most you have noticed, the site hasn’t been happy for about the last 5 days or so, so being the “webmaster” I figured I’d give you all an explanation…..

Jill has done a great job developing and promoting this site and it’s growing at a pretty fast pace, and is starting to get a little too big for it’s britches. So last week we tried upgrading the server to a new supposedly bigger and better server. As you can guess it didn’t go too well. This site uses a lot of what we in business call “legacy code” which is old code that doesn’t work on the newest systems because it contains old features and commands that have been depreciated, renamed to something else, or just changed in a way so the old commands don’t do the same thing.

After a few days of trying to fix errors and not really getting anywhere we migrated the site back to the old server, and that glitched as well, which is why everyone could create posts but not view or comment on any of them.

Now, I hope that everything is back to normal and this is my test as well as explanation as to what’s been going on.

I’ve been doing work on maintaining and adding new features to this site for over a year now and I can say that Jill pours her heart and soul into this site. She does everything she can to make sure everyone has a good experience, the community grows, and that essential new features are added to the site ASAP.

So, I apologize for the problems over the last week, I know how frustrating they can be, they were frustrating to track and try and fix for me, so if you want to yell, yell at me, not Jill, I was the one responsible. But hopefully we’re back, and once we’re sure that everything is stable again we’re going to try and upgrade again, but in a different way so we can avoid that kind of interruption again.

Kevin thanks so much for helping me out with all this. I sometimes get overwhelmed making sure this site stays up and running and that it is a positive experience for all of us. You have made it so much easier for me to do that. I couldn’t have done it without you. Thanks for all your hard work.

Thanks Kevin. I guess we will have to keep you!
LoL. I told Jill I thought it was my computer.
I am glad to hear it was not.
So I better dig it out of the trash!

Hi Kevin; Thanks for all your hard work on trying to change and upgrade the site. I posted a reply to Jill explaining that my supporters or people I support, their postings come into my email box usually 3 times on the same posting. Not sure why that happens but I guess it just does. Is there a way to change that? Is it something I did to create that? Whatever you do keep on trying with the site as it is really important to so many of us. I feel like I know some of my supporters and they have become like friends even though we haven’t met in person. Now whatever avenue would allow that but Cancer itself. You see there is always a rainbow somewhere. Weezie

I hope no one is doing any yelling.

Thank you, Kevin, for all of your hard work!

Your hard work is much appreciated and you can ignore any and all complaints from here on…

You is the cheese.

Mac
